SDCRID Presents a workshop for Presenters, Interpreters and instructors!
It has been called “Death by PowerPoint.” Research indicates PowerPoint slides often interfere with participant comprehension, organization, and retention of information. You are a dynamic presenter with knowledge and experience to share. Are your PowerPoints slides actually hindering your message?
What makes an effective presentation? It is more than the content: it includes the participant handouts, multimedia (PowerPoint) presentation, and information you provide verbally. Participants want presentations that engage them intellectually, visual aids to reinforce the content, and quality handout materials that can be referenced again and again.
The research-based principles in this workshop will help you create PowerPoint presentations and participant handouts that complement the content you provide. You can avoid PowerPoint poisoning in your presentations!
Come prepared to work on a new or existing training: bring two printouts of your PowerPoint slides, or an idea you are ready to begin to transform into a workshop. You’ll leave with results!

Presenter David N. Evans is a nationally-certified practitioner with over 25 years of providing ASL-English interpretation and translation services, working extensively in conference settings as well as in performing arts, corporate and community settings.
Educating interpreters for over two decades, David's sessions are interactive, entertaining, and informative undefined creating a relaxed, safe environment for all audiences. He has presented at conferences from local to international with a record attendance of over 1,250 participants at the 2009 RID Conference in Philadelphia. Other accomplishments include presenting at two National Alliance of Black Interpreters (NAOBI) conferences and four national RID conferences. David established Bridge Communications in 1996 to further his goals of providing skill-building workshops and video materials for interpreters. When not on the road presenting or interpreting, he makes his home with his partner, cat, and dog in Minneapolis where he enjoys playing Frisbee, reading, roller skating, listening to disco music, and taking walks around the city's many lakes.
